Course Description

You use the Internet regularly, for both work and personal purposes. But now, for various reasons, you want to learn about the technical side of the Internet: What constitutes the Internet? How is a website developed? What are the emerging trends and technologies on the Internet? In this course, you will examine the technical aspects of the Internet.

Course Objective: You will examine the technical aspects of the Internet.

Target Student: Persons in a variety of job roles with basic end-user Internet skills (such as using a browser, using email, viewing websites, or searching for content), who now need to acquire an understanding of the technical underpinnings of the Internet, whether to evaluate Internet technologies for deployment, to interact effectively with Internet technical professionals in business situations, or to serve as prerequisite knowledge as part of a career transition into a job role that involves technical Internet skills.

Prerequisites: To ensure the successful completion of the Technical Introduction to the Internet course, students should be familiar with using personal computers. Students may be experienced in using web browsers (Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher or Mozilla Firefox), email, or FTP services.

Delivery Method: Instructor led, group-paced, classroom-delivery learning model with structured hands-on activities.
