Note: If you already have an Active Directory domain controller, a DHCP server, DNS server, or mail server in your environment, you can use any or all of those server resources instead of creating a new server for class.
Install Microsoft® Windows Server 2003, Standard or Enterprise Edition with SP2, with the following parameters.
Configure the network settings.
Install additional Windows components.
Promote the server to a domain controller.
Configure DNS.
Configure mail services.
Create users on the Domain Controller Server.

Create a shared folder.
Note: This course was developed using Windows XP. You can also use Windows Vista.
Install Windows XP Professional SP2 with the following parameters:
Set the system properties for the system.
In Windows XP Professional, disable the Welcome screen. (This step ensures that students will be able to log on as the Administrator user, regardless of what other user accounts exist on the computer.) Choose Start→Control Panel. Click User Accounts. Click Change The Way Users Log On And Off. Uncheck the Use Welcome Screen check box. Click Apply Options.
In Windows XP Professional, install Service Pack 2. Use the Service Pack installation defaults.
Log on to the GLOBAL domain as student01 (password !Pass1234).
Perform a complete installation of Adobe Acrobat Χ Professional.
Perform a complete installation of Microsoft Office Professional Plus Edition 2010.
You will also need to run additional software as described in the Course Requirements section. Perform a standard or full installation of the applications you use in addition to Adobe Acrobat Χ Professional.
This course will run best if Acrobat's preferences are set to their default values. To reset settings, you could uninstall Acrobat, then reinstall using the Adobe Acrobat installation CD-ROM.
On the course CD-ROM, open the 084548 folder. Then, open the Data folder. Run the 084548dd.exe self-extracting file located within. This will install a folder named 084548Data on your C drive. This folder contains all the data files that you will use to complete this course.
Configure Microsoft Office Outlook 2010.
In the Microsoft Office Outlook 2010, in the Home tab, in the Delete group, from the Junk drop-down menu, choose Junk E-mail options.
In the Junk E-mail Options - <student#@ourglobalcompany.com> dialog box, in the Choose the level of junk e-mail protection you want section, select the No Automatic Filtering. Mail from blocked senders is still moved to the Junk E-mail folder option.
In the Junk E-mail Options - <student#@ourglobalcompany.com> dialog box, click Apply and click OK.
Make sure the font Arial is installed on the computer.
You need to install two PostScript Printer Description files and add two printers for the Printing lesson. The course data includes URL bookmark files that you can double-click to download the files from the manufacturer’s websites. Double-click the AGFA PPDs URL file and the Tektronix PPDs URL file to download sets of PPD files for each company. If either of these URLs doesn’t work, double-click the Adobe PPDs for Win.url file to access Adobe’s download page for both printer drivers and PPDs. Once the files are downloaded, run the Agfa.exe and Tek.exe installer files, then use the Add Printer Wizard to add AGFA AccuSet 1500 and Tektronix Phaser 480X printers (uncheck the Automatically Detect And Install My Plug And Play Printer check box, and select the printer software manually).
Set the monitor resolution to at least 1024 x 768 ppi.
Printed with each activity is a list of files students should open to complete that activity. Many activities also require additional files that students do not open, but are needed to support the file(s) students are working with. These supporting files are included with the student data files on the course CD-ROM. Do not delete these files.
In addition to the specific setup procedures needed for this class to run properly, you should also check the Element K Courseware product support website at http:// support.elementkcourseware.com for more information. Any updates about this course will be posted there.
