Course Description
Course Objective: You will extend a SharePoint site by including server-side controls
and administer a SharePoint site.
Target Student: This course is intended for entry-level SharePoint solution developers
who are currently capable of creating basic SharePoint sites using the out-of-the-box
functionality provided by the built-in SharePoint Designer templates, and
who now want to extend or create SharePoint sites with functionality by incorporating
server web controls, data controls, customized workflows, and administration.
Prerequisites: To ensure your success in this course, you should be able
to create basic SharePoint sites using existing SharePoint Designer templates.
You can attain this level of skill and knowledge by taking the Microsoft® Windows® SharePoint® Designer 2010: Level 1 course prior to this
course.
Hardware Requirements
You will need two servers for the classroom, plus one
client computer for each student in the class, plus one client computer for
the instructor. For each of these machines, the following hardware requirements
are the minimum suggested for this course:
- 64-bit, four-core processor, 2.5 GHz minimum per core is required
for installing Windows Server 2008 where Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010
will be installed. Other systems can use a 32–bit processor but a 64–bit
processor will enhance performance.
- Pentium IV 1 GHz CPU or higher for client systems.
- Minimum of 1 GB of RAM for each client computer.
- 4 GB RAM for the Windows 2008 Server installation.
- 1 GB RAM for the Windows Server 2003 installation.
- 40 GB of free hard disk space for installation of Windows
Server 2003.
- 80 GB of free hard disk space for installation of Windows
Server 2008.
- 40 GB or larger hard-disk drive for each student and instructor
computer.
- CD-ROM or DVD drive.
- VGA or higher video.
- Keyboard and mouse.
- A display system to project the instructor’s computer
screen.
- You need to have an Internet connection because some of the
software components are installed from the Internet.
- Internet access for all computers.
